The Prime Video series’ Twitter account posted a series of edits with the caption, “No Doctor’s gettin’ you out of this multiverse.” The images reimagine three members of The Boys — Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Kapon) and Hughie (Jack Quaid) — if they were instead played by Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford and Antony Starr, who play A-Train, the Deep and Homelander, respectively. The post is an obvious joke poking fun at the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which explores the mystical hero (Benedict Cumberbatch) traveling the Multiverse and encountering other versions of himself.
Zurg’s referencing Empire makes sense, given not only that the character is based on Darth Vader, but also how Lightyear director Angus McLane described the film as the Toy Story version of Star Wars. “Now you remember in Toy Story, watch Firestarter free: Transact Furture ; watch Doctor Strange 2022 football coach unpredictable watch Love in Kilnerry free. Andy had a birthday party,” McLane said. “His favorite gift was a character that he loved: Buzz Lightyear the Space Ranger. And it was a toy that would redefine playtime for Andy. And I’ve always wondered what movie was Buzz from, you know? Why couldn’t we just make that movie? So that’s what we did.” McLane went on to describe Lightyear as “a sci-fi epic designed to inspire a new generation.”
Coincidentally, while actor Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the MCU film, The Walking Dead’s Laurie Holden will portray the Crimson Countess (The Boys’ twist on Scarlet Witch) in the upcoming season. Holden joins Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy (a spin on Captain America) and other newcomers as well, like Sean Patrick Flannery’s Gunpowder, Miles Gaston Villanueva’s Supersonic and more. Though they may not be magical, new superpowers will also be seen in the new season, being that Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher will have powers like those of Homelander.
