Startup one-liner:
AI-powered job tools for submitting better applications 10x faster
Problem the startup solves:
People should be hired because they’re right for the job, not because they’re better at writing cover letters or formatting their resumes than everyone else. Postlander levels the playing field by helping people submit better job applications 10x faster—by using AI to write cover letters, outreach requests, and more—along with readability checks and keyword optimization tools. No more getting kicked out by ATS scanning systems just because you used the wrong kind of table in Microsoft Word.
With Postlander, people can spend less time looking for work—and actually focus on getting the job.
Progress and Current Status:
We soft-launched early in February of 2023, and are now accepting public users.
What is an Inspiring Story about the Startup?:
We’re an all-women team made of identical twin sisters. While we were in college (University of Southern California and Stanford), both of us went through the usual process of applying for summer internships, so we have old resumes saved on our computers from back in 2016-2019. We didn’t get many internship offers, but the silver lining was that our lack of job success prompted us to eventually end up starting our own consulting company after graduation. Postlander has been a side project of that same agency.
When we were testing Postlander—specifically its ability to tell job hunters if their resumes were readable or not—one of us actually found out the resume we’d been using all through college internship season wasn’t even parseable. Oops!
What is a Company the Startup Looks Up to, and Why?:
One of the biggest companies (and founding teams) we look up to is the design software Canva. With a female founder and a huge track record of explosive growth in the software space, we’re excited to see women like Melanie Perkins leading the way, while also demonstrating how “soft skill” solutions can be impressive technologically.
The Company in Four Years Will Be…
We hope we can help thousands of people land their next dream job, side hustle, internship, or even mentorship with Postlander. Along with our suite of tools for job hunters, we’re also busy building out a marketplace of design templates for resumes and cover letters, which we hope can provide meaningful income for freelance designers as well.
