The majority of the population has some incredibly contrasting views about Elon Musk. And yes, many of his antics are controversial and warrant a debate. But one cannot deny that the man is a visionary. And what he has achieved with Tesla Motors is worth appreciation. The question is, can the Tesla boat match up to this?
Every now and then, we hear about people venturing into the field hoping to be the next Elon Musk or aspiring to beat the guy with an even more daring vision. But few manage to succeed. This is why when someone claimed to launch a boat that would be the Tesla of the seas, people were wary. After all, we heard such claims before. But is it indeed fair to dismiss the idea of a Tesla boat altogether? Or is there something in it that can make it the next big thing?
More About The Tesla Boat: What We Know So Far
Let’s start with the obvious question. Who came up with the idea of Tesla of the Seas, and what exactly was his vision? Well, there’s a Swedish company that has launched an electric boat that it believes can give Tesla Motors a run for its money. Designed for new boat owners, it starts at a whopping price of $100,000!
As per the CEO, Jenny Keisu, the boats will be launched into the market by April 2023 and will be built completely in Sweden. According to the company, this electric boat will be truly one of a kind and will be affordable too. Well, we can’t really ask for more!
As per the company, X Shore, the electric boat will have many features that are unheard of until now. For one thing, it will be completely silent. And it will be operated by a single battery. Furthermore, it will be available in three trim levels, including performance, utility, and premium.
Tesla Moving Forward
The company is moving forward with one vision, to show the new boat owners that the time for electric boating is here. And one of those Tesla boat models will be inspired by electric eels! It will be available at a price of $329,000. There’s quite a lot that the company has told us about the design of the electric boat that they have in mind.
The boat will be built using carbon fiber and will be available in two versions, top and open. Furthermore, the boat will be provided with a sunbathing deck along with an open transom and a swim platform. It will also include retractable sun awnings, navigation lights, and a cantilevered roof. So boar owners will be able to use it for water activities like waterskiing too.
The company’s CEO has stated that they will keep the price of the electric boat low to ensure that the electric boat puts up tough competition against the boats powered by fossil fuels. We cannot deny the idea is interesting and definitely one for the future. But can this company deliver what it’s promising? It’s too early to say!
Not The First Idea Of A Tesla Boat
As we have said, there have been many before who have claimed to be working on an electric boat that will be at par with everything that Tesla Motors stands for. But we haven’t seen much success in that area. Will this time be any different? We will have to wait!
Another company working on an electric boat is Blue Innovations Group. It intends to launch its version of electric boats by 2024. According to the company, they are working on a 30-foot electric power boat that will be provided with dual motors and will be capable of delivering a combined 800HP! The expected maximum speed of the boat is about 39 knots.
An interesting point to note is that this version of the Tesla boat actually has an association with the Tesla motor. Because it’s backed by a former employee of the company, Mr. Vo, who is committed to using the strategies and tactics he has learned at Tesla to their full potential. He endeavors to make electric boats so accessible that people will forget all about the boats powered by fossil fuels. And this will be his gift to the environment.
Tesla Boat: A Concept For The Future
It might be too early to disregard the idea of Tesla boats as frivolous and a myth. Let’s not forget Elon Musk was given the same treatment when he first started, and look at how far he has come. It’s not just about Tesla Motors. He has ventured into multiple businesses and made each one a success, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
For instance, he started Zip2 with his brother, which was later acquired by Compaq’s AltaVista at a price of $340. Then, he co-founded X-box, which was an online bank that merged with Confinity Inc. later. And, of course, there’s Tesla Motors which he established to give shape to his vision of futuristic electric cars.
Initially, people were not keen on the concept, which is why he had to work hard to get his funding. Eventually, all the hard work paid off, and Tesla Roadster was launched. And there has been no looking back for the company since then.
Will the companies hoping to be the next big thing have the same kind of success as the Tesla boat? We cannot say! But there’s one thing you should keep in mind. No idea should be discarded without any thought. Remember, every great innovation starts off with an idea. And we might be closer to electric boats than we think!
The companies might not succeed, but the truth remains people realize that there’s a need for electric boats for the sake of the environment. And this is a step in the right direction! Sooner or later, there will be someone who will succeed just like Elon Musk, and we will have an electric boat that will not only be futuristic but also environment-friendly!
