Startup one-liner:
Hopper for Concert Tickets
Problem the startup solves:
We take the work out of finding cheap concert tickets. Using our app saves live music fans up to 50% over using the standard ticket resellers.
We are a one stop shopping site for music concerts. We bring over 10 different ticket sellers into one app and show our users the lowest prices. We give our users transparency by telling them up front which tickets have additional fees and which don’t. We also allow them to “name their price” for tickets and notify them if tickets hit the price they want to pay.
Progress and Current Status:
Live in the Apple App Store for 7 markets (Phoenix, Dallas, Minneapolis, San Diego, Denver, Austin, and Portland)
What is an Inspiring Story about the Startup?:
The Origin: At the beginning of the pandemic, Logan (the founder) got frustrated looking for concert tickets to a popular band, the National. Ticket prices were all over the place. On one site they were $140 and on another they were $120. He checked back a couple hours later and found that ticket prices had dropped to $100, a significant drop for no discernible reason.
At this point, he thought: “Would it be great if there was one place for all the ticket prices and it monitored the prices for me. I don’t have time to constantly monitor 3 different ticket apps and watch to see if prices hit what I want to pay.”
And out of this thought, TicketJam as an idea was born.
The Aha: We knew we were on to something when we compared ticket prices for over 30 different general admission shows and found that using our app saved users over 50% compared to just using a large ticket reseller app like StubHub or SeatGeek. We were able to do this because we showed users the official (sometimes called primary) tickets which are cheaper than resale tickets. We did this because know that live music fans don’t want to be tricked into buying overpriced resale tickets if they don’t have to and often times shows still have official tickets left even though the big resellers won’t tell you that. We do and that’s how we save our users big money over just using a single reseller ticket app.
What is a Company the Startup Looks Up to, and Why?:
We look up to Going and Hopper, travel apps focused on finding the best airplane ticket prices. We admire them because they put the customer first always. They always look for the best deals and prices for their customers and back up their claims about savings with real data. Their focus on proactively notifying customers of the latest deals is inspiring. In particular, Hopper’s ability to give predictive guidance on the future of prices is something that we look forward to building into our service in the future as well.
The Company in Four Years Will Be…
The nationwide truth teller for the best prices to all live events. We seek to be the one stop shopping place for all tickets including sports, theater and music.
We aspire to be the place where all live event fans go to ensure they are getting the best deals for any event and back that up with hard data to show them they are getting the best price for the event as well as predictive analytics telling them whether they should buy now or wait on tickets they want.
